Your work at the hackathon culminates in a presentation where your team gets to share your solution with the judges and the other attendees. This is your chance to really sell what you have done. Your team will be randomly assigned a slot and you will get 5 minutes to present.

 

Preparation and Support

  • Use the provided slide deck template by making a copy for your presentation.
  • This template ensures that you cover all the necessary content.
  • Choose 1, max 2, speakers from your group to do the presentation.
  • ⚠️ You need to practice your presentation to make sure you fit the allocated time. Everyone thinks they will be fine for time until they actually practice - then they realise their presentation is too long.
  • The mentors will also do a dry run with your team to give you feedback and make sure your presentation is the right length.
  • It’s highly recommended to do a recording of your solution to showcase a demo. Nothing worse than a live demo that 💣s

 

Your presentation content

  • Introduction: Briefly introduce your team and project [30 seconds]
  • Problem Statement: Clearly define the problem you are addressing and why you are tackling it [1 minute]
  • Solution: Describe your solution and its unique value. Explain why you implemented it this way. [1 minute]
  • Demo: Showcase a pre-recorded demo of your prototype. [2 minutes]
  • Conclusion: Summarise and share what you would like to do next. [30 seconds]

 

Tips for making slides

  • Limit slides to key points - use visuals and bullet points for clarity.
  • Include screenshots or visuals of your prototype in action.
  • Rehearse with your slides to ensure smooth transitions.

 

Presentation Delivery

  • Speak clearly and at a moderate pace.
  • Be confident and enthusiastic about your project.
  • Engage with the audience and judges; maintain eye contact.

 

Technical Setup

  • The mentors will be available to help you get set up for your presentation.
  • We will work together to make sure the handover time is short.
  • Keep an eye on the visual timer - when your time is done you have to stop.
